The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Johnson John, a resident of the Gwallameji area, for allegedly trafficking a 19-year-old Cecelia Cosmos for prostitution.

According to the police, Cecelia was deceitfully lured by Johnson on April 12, 2025, under the pretense of a job opportunity in Lagos State.

The victim’s mother, a Rhoda Cosmos, a resident of Unguwan Kusu, Yelwa, reported the incident to the ‘E’ Police Divisional Headquarters on April 19, 2025.

In a statement on Friday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Mohammed Wakil, narrated that Cecelia was handed over to a woman identified only as “Mama,” who trafficked her to Burkina Faso for prostitution.

Wakil further stated that upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu ordered the Divisional Police Officer of the Division to apprehend the suspects and rescue the victim.

The police spokesman stated that the suspect who was subsequently arrested, confessed to his involvement in the crime during interrogation.

He added that thorough investigation was underway to ensure that those involved directly or indirectly are brought to justice.
