Operatives of the Lagos Police Command have detained a 16-year-old boy over alleged illegal possession of a firearm in the Ebute-Ero area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a post shared on his verified X handle on Sunday.
Hundeyin said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off from concerned residents.
He lauded the observant Lagosians who noticed the teenager with the firearm and discreetly alerted the Ebute-Ero Police Division.
“The police searched his house and recovered a locally fabricated firearm and an unexpended cartridge. One more firearm off the streets,” Hundeyin said.
The police image maker disclosed that an investigation into the case was ongoing and urged Lagos residents to speak up whenever they spot anything suspicious in their various community.
