Nigeria’s digital economy will take center stage as the prestigious ’50 Most Valuable Personalities’ (50MVPs) in Nigeria’s Digital Economy event unfolds in Lagos.
Spearheaded by Knowhow Media, publishers of IT Edge News.Africa, the gathering, which will take place on May 22, 2025, will honour the architects of Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation—visionaries, innovators, and policy drivers who are steering the nation toward a future shaped by technology.
An influential offshoot of the West Africa Convergence Conference (WACC), the 50MVPs initiative has become a landmark platform, not merely recognising individual achievements but galvanizing momentum across West Africa’s tech ecosystem. It brings together regulators, tech industry leaders, government representatives, and innovators under one roof to exchange ideas, celebrate milestones, and confront new challenges facing the digital economy.
Organisers said this year’s recognition carries deeper resonance, celebrating individuals whose leadership, resilience, and innovation have left indelible marks on Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
According to Dr. Sola Afolabi, chairman of the 2025 Nomination Committee, the event is not just an awards ceremony but “a celebration of the digital revolutionaries shaping Nigeria’s future.”
To be held under the theme “Consolidating Progress – Addressing New & Emerging Challenges in Nigeria’s Digital Economy,” the 2025 edition promises a packed agenda. Beyond honoring the MVPs, it will feature dynamic conversations on artificial intelligence, blockchain, data analytics, and the pressing issues influencing the sector’s trajectory. A highlight will be the unveiling of the Nigeria Digital Economy Special Report 2025, offering fresh insights into the sector’s opportunities and challenges.
At the heart of the recognition is a rigorous selection process anchored on innovation, leadership, measurable impact, and sustainable vision for the future. Those selected embody the spirit of enabling ICT policy reform, empowering youth-led startups, advancing governance through technology, and building resilient digital ecosystems.
Echoing this commitment, the executive vice C
chairman of Knowhow Media, Olusegun Oruame, emphasized that the 50MVPs initiative is about celebrating the builders of bridges between technology and national development. “The 2025 Recognition focuses on leaders who are not only innovating but creating tangible value for society,” he said.
Backed by strong industry support, including key government ministries, agencies, and private sector players, the 50MVPs awards build on the legacy of earlier initiatives like the Nigeria Top 50 Digital Economy Enablers. It cements Knowhow Media’s place as a consistent voice championing innovation and excellence across Africa’s tech landscape since 2007.
As Lagos prepares to welcome an elite assembly of digital economy leaders, the 2025 edition of the 50MVPs promises not just to honor the present, but to inspire the next chapter of Nigeria’s digital future.
