A shopping complex located along Police F Division Road in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital was razed by an early Tuesday morning inferno.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the fire incident which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday was caused by a power surge.

It was gathered that the raging fire consumed four shops while the timely intervention of the men of the Kwara State Fire Service saved the remaining six shops in the complex.

When contacted, the spokesman of the State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident.

Adekunle said: “The Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday, 29th April 2025, reporting a fire outbreak at a block of shops located along F-Division, Tanke, Ilorin.

“Our fire crew responded promptly and arrived at the scene to find a block of 10 shops engulfed in flames. The firefighters swiftly brought the situation under control, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent shops and nearby buildings. Despite the intensity of the fire, 6 shops were salvaged while 4 shops were affected by the blaze.”
