The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four persons involved in the production of counterfeit herbicides in Bauchi metropolis.

The suspects were discovered and apprehended in the act while producing the fake substances at a residence in Unguwan Liman, Bauchi.

Those arrested included Usman Suleman, a 21-year-old resident of Karofin Madaki; Ahmad Musa, a 20-year-old resident of Wuntin Dada, and Muhammad Nuhu, 17-year-old resident of Fadaman Mada—all within the Bauchi metropolis. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the fourth suspect.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed that an extensive investigation has been launched.

“On May 3, 2025, at about 13:30 hours, a team of detectives attached to the Monitoring Unit of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, uncovered a large-scale counterfeit herbicide production operation in a residential area,” Wakil stated.

Items recovered during a comprehensive search included 26 cartons labelled “Force Up”; one empty carton of “Gobora,”; two plastic drums containing a suspicious liquid mixture, two buckets and one hundred empty one-litre containers labelled “Force Up.”

“During the interrogation, the defendants implicated Muhammad Muhammad, a 36-year-old of Fadaman Mada. This individual was subsequently located and apprehended for this illegal operation,” Wakil added.
