A non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Elohim Development Foundation (EDF) has revealed that it has rescued over 15,000 teenagers, particularly girls, from human trafficking, cultism, prostitution, and drug abuse since 2005 to date, empowering them to contribute positively to their states and the country.

The founder, Dr. Victoria Daaor, who made this known during the 20-year anniversary celebration of EDF in Makurdi, said her desire to start the foundation was to give hope to the hopeless and redirect the lives of young boys and girls who thought that without engaging in criminality, they could not make it in life. Likewise, some teenage girls who think life is all about prostitution should think better and reposition themselves.

Declaring the occasion open, the chairman of the EDF Board of Directors, Akubo Adegbe, described 20 years of the organisation as impactful years of commitment, determination, and dedication that have brought unprecedented growth to EDF through the passion of the founder, even as he commended the staff for their support, which has helped in recording tremendous success.

In a remark the director general, Benue State Peace and Reconciliation Commission, Josephine Haba who applauded EDF for a wonderful initiative which has brought a positive change in the lives of many urged other NGOs to emulate the passion and zeal that brought Dr Daaor this far.
