Vigilante Group Issues 7-day Quit Notice To Non-indigenous Native Doctors

"All the landlords who rented their houses to these people should go and tell them that they have just seven days to leave Omoku. You cannot stay in our community and will be bringing juju into the community.

A vigilante group, the Onelga Security Peace Advisory Committee (OSPAC), has issued a seven-day ultimatum to non-indigenous native doctors in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government areas of Rivers State to relocate to another place.

Onelga, as it is popularly called, is a major oil and gas-producing local government area in Rivers State. It shares boundaries with Imo, Delta, and Anambra states.

It was gathered that there had been an influx of people, mostly native doctors, from the South-East geopolitical zone of the country, especially Anambra State, into the LGA following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s clampdown on fake native doctors.

Speaking during a sensitisation exercise at Omoku Town at the weekend, the OSPAC secretary-general, Eze Ohia, said reports reaching the local security outfit indicated that some native doctors were harbouring fetish items in their homes.

He stated that any non-indigenous native doctor who fails to leave the area within seven days will have the vigilante group and the community to contend with, and warned landlords against shielding such persons in their houses.

Ohia said, “All the native doctors, all the people who are not from Omoku; you are from the East, but they chased you away. One room is full of charms, and over 30 people live inside.”

“All the people who have brought juju into Omoku and ONELGA have seven days to leave this town. If we catch you after seven days, you will have it rough with OSPAC and the community.

“All the landlords who rented their houses to these people should go and tell them that they have just seven days to leave Omoku. You cannot stay in our community and will be bringing juju into the community.

“At the expiration of the seven days, we will be moving from house to house to search for them. Anywhere we catch such people, the landlord will also be in trouble.”
