They will be studying Industry Development, Development and Application of Small Hydropower Standards as well as Vocational Training and Poverty Reduction through labour transfer.

This is in fulfillment of his promise to train 100 Akwa Ibom youths on relevant skills needed for optimum efficiency and global competitiveness.

The event was held in Abuja.

The all-expense paid training will equip the beneficiaries with adequate skills and knowledge to function effectively anywhere in the world.

The eight trainees are; Lady Victoria Monday Uko, Godwin Sampson Udobot, Nnimnobong Ukana Ibanga, Ettete Peter Obosi, Akainyene Paulinus Elijah, Nkom Brownson Ekpe, Wisdom Mfon Jackson and Nseabasi Emmanuel Udomfu.

At a brief send-forth ceremony in Abuja, Rep. Idem said the gesture was to equip and raise the next generation of leaders in the state.

“The world is a global village, so there’s the need for you to be exposed to modern technology to be able to compete with your counterparts globally, so wherever you have an opportunity to work, you will not lag behind.

“To achieve this, I’m targeting to train and equip a minimum of 100 Akwa Ibomites to be self-reliant and to be able to compete with their counterparts across the world. What is helping me today to do what I’m able to do and achieve is the level of training and exposure I’ve garnered over the years across the globe, and it is my desire that you do better than me,” Idem said.

He promised that the training would be done periodically in order to achieve the targeted 100 youths.
