The chief of staff to the President of Nigeria, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, has been scheduled to deliver the first-ever University Lecture of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), focusing on funding education.
According to a statement by the university’s public relations officer, Ademola Adesoji, Gbajabiamila will speak on “Interrogating Funding of Education: Global versus Nigerian Perspectives.”

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives is expected to bring decades of governance experience and global exposure to the fore as he proffers sustainable pathways for resolving Nigeria’s perennial education funding challenges.

Adesoji stated that the vice-chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, described the lecture as a bold step by UNIOSUN to shape national policy conversations and reposition higher education through strategic intellectual engagement.

“This is more than just an academic event; it is a call to action,” Professor Adebooye remarked. “We are deeply honoured to welcome Hon. Gbajabiamila to our University. His pedigree and leadership experience will enrich the discourse and inspire solutions that can move Nigeria’s education system forward.”

Professor Adebooye further noted that the lecture reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to fostering dialogue, influencing policy, and deepening public understanding of critical issues affecting tertiary education in Nigeria and globally.

The event is expected to attract dignitaries from the government, the academic community, international organisations, the private sector, and traditional institutions, making it one of the most anticipated intellectual gatherings in the state this year.
