Abia State governor, Alex Otti has said the civic-connect hackathon programme aligns with his administration’s agenda of promoting technology and capacity building among the youths.

Otti made the assertion during the end of a two-day civic-connect hackathon programme organized by the state Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation for youths in Aba.

Represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Justina Eboh, Otti said the administration is committed towards fostering an environment where innovation strives.

In an address of welcome earlier, the special assistant to the governor on Digital Economy, Elizabeth Chijioke, said the programme was timely and necessary for the youths.

In respective deliveries, a business development lead, Solaris Greentech Hub, Chiemela Anosike and one of the mentors, Ifeanyi Okoh noted that the importance of the programme was enormous.

They said it aimed at getting great thinkers and creators who will design products based on the needs of certain users, advising the youths to ensure that they present their products in a way to nullify the doubts of their investors.

Speaking, some of the youths, Blessing Ononogbu and John Justice expressed fulfillment for their participation, describing the programme as a platform for youths with great technological ideas to harness their potentials.

Furthermore, they appealed for more awareness on the programme and inclusion of Persons With Disabilities who, they say are usually victims of cyber crime due to ignorance.
