A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Tafidan Gurku, has charged the presidential candidates for the 2023 election to address the security challenges facing the country.

Gurku, who is the chairman of Mararrabar Gurku Peoples Development Association, said each of the political parties eyeing the country’s presidency, knows where it has the largest followers.

He reacted to the criticisms trailing the number of 18 presidential candidates for the February 2023 election, which some political pundits described as too high.

According to him, the high number was the issue, adding that the “most important aspect of the whole thing is for them to tell Nigerians how they will tackle the menace of insecurity in different parts of the country, especially in the northern part.”

He also appealed to the federal government to address the security challenges before the commencement of the elections in 2023, stressing that “it will be extremely difficult for the electorate to come out and vote massively if they feel not secure.”
