The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) inaugurated the 2025 Media team yesterday to cover the activities of the annual Islamic rites in the holy cities of Saudi Arabia.

Speaking during the event, the commission’s chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh, said that the media, a powerful agent of social change and a great influencer of happenings, should endeavour to do their reportage work with extreme fairness. He urges them to always cross-check their facts to avoid misinforming the populace.

He expressed NAHCON’s appreciation for the services the media render to ensure a successful Hajj operation. “So far, we have airlifted more than 30,000 pilgrims to the holy land,” he concluded.

Earlier, a renowned scholar based in Abuja, Sheikh Abu Jabir (popularly known as Pen Abdul), called on the media practitioners selected to cover this Hajj to see it as a call to religious service. He urged them to strive to get the truth and inform them after cross-checking it with relevant authorities. “You should always work as a team if you want to make the desired impact in this year’s Hajj operation,” he emphasised.
