The Nigeria Corrections Service (NCoS) has offered cash reward of N5m to anyone who provides useful information that leads to the recapture of seven fleeing inmates from the Medium Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.

LEADERSHIP reports that heavy rainfall, which occurred around 2:00am on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, had caused a breach in the facility’s perimeter security, a “force majeure” that gave the inmates an opportunity to flee.

However, a statement signed by the NCoS spokesman, Umar Abubakar, on Wednesday, said the Service craved public participation with attendant monetary reward in order to recapture the seven fleeing inmates.

“In order to encourage public participation, the Nigerian Correctional Service wishes to inform the general public that a cash reward of N5million is being offered to anyone who provides useful information that leads to the recapture of the fleeing inmates from the Medium Custodial Centre, Ilesha, Osun State.

“The Service urges members of the public to report any information they may have regarding the whereabouts of the inmates at large to the nearest security agencies. All information will be treated with utmost confidentiality and anonymity,” DCC Abubakar stated.
