A 100-level student of Taraba State Polytechnic, Saanmoyol Paul, was on Wednesday electrocuted while flying a flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along Roadblock to ATC Road in Jalingo, the state capital.

Paul, alongside tens of youths were flying the party’s flags to demonstrate the presence of the party during the visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state.

President Tinubu was represented by his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shetima at the Taraba International Investment Summit (TARAVEST).

LEADERSHIP gathered that the flag held by Saamoyor which had iron handle touched an electrical wire leading to his being electrocuted.

Speaking with newsmen at Gilead Hospital Magami in Jalingo, the victim who struggled to speak, appealed to the state government to come to his aid and relocate him from the hospital.

Saamoyor lamented that his condition was worsening since he was brought to the facility.

Those attending to Paul in the hospital also disclosed that he was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition after the incident.

They also maintained that his condition has not improved since the hospital began treatment for over 15 hours after his admission.

The Coordinator of PDP Youths Movement who was in charge of the mobilisation for PDP Flying Flags (PDPFF), Hon. Iliya Kefas confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

Kefas said Paul was electrocuted while flying the PDP flag opposite the Taraba State Polytechnic gate.

“Yes, the boy by the name Saamoyor was electrocuted during our exercise. He was rushed to a hospital, the government has taken over the hospital bill and our prayers is that he will survive from the accident,” Kefas stated.
