Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu, the state capital.

He described the arrest of the suspects, identified as 30-year-old Waiti Bello and Idrissa Adamu, 35, as a significant success in the command’s efforts to maintain security and safety in the state.

Dungus said the armed men attacked the residence of a man, identified as Maikudi, on May 6, 2025, abducting his daughter and injuring another girl in the process.

The State Police image maker further said the kidnap syndicate demanded N5 million for the release of the victim.

He added that operatives of the Command acted promptly on the case by initiating an investigation that led to the rescue of the victim and the dismantling of the kidnappers’ den.

He added, “The police received demands for a N5,000,000 ransom, which facilitated the rescue operation.”

Dungus added that members of the syndicate were on the run, assuring that efforts were being intensified to apprehend them soon.

LEADERSHIP gathered that a Dane gun and one motorcycle were recovered from the hideout of the suspects.

The apprehended suspects have also reportedly confessed to the crime and were assisting the police with their investigation.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Emmanuel Ado reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating crimes in the state and called for community collaboration in the fight against insecurity.

He appealed to residents of the state to always give support and maximum cooperation to security agencies to deal with criminal elements in the state.
