Police Rescue 5 Kidnap Victims In Niger

Police in Niger State have rescued five kidnap victims including one abducted from Sokoto through the Niger forest.

LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that Police Mobile Force Squadron 12 operatives stationed at Mararaban Dan-daudu found one Mubarak Iliya wandering around the forest and after questioning, he was taken to Gwada Division.

Similarly, a security team rescued four victims; Deborah Daina, Gambo Amos, Cyprus Titus, and Satti Iko in Munya local government area of Niger State.
Spokesman of the command, Wasiu Abiodun, said Ilya was kidnapped from Gatawa village with his father,

Iliya Daddi both of Sabon-Birni local government area Sokoto State.
He said, “The victim said in April, within the period of the Ramadan, hoodlums invaded their village, shooting sporadically, and out of fear, he and his father ran, but unfortunately ended up in the hands of the bandits.

“They were both tied, blindfolded and taken on motorcycles to an unknown destination. While on transit, he heard a gunshot, his father fell down and he suspected that he had been killed.”

He said Ilya revealed to police that he was able to escape and walked through the forest for eight days until he met police personnel in Niger State.
