To mark 2025 Children’s Day, Pastor Sam Otenaike has called on parents and guardians to be more intentional about what their children are exposed to, especially in today’s digitally driven world.

Speaking during a special service on Sunday at the Precious Peoples Assembly Church in Abuja — held to celebrate both Children’s Day and Mothers Day — Pastor Otenaike highlighted the growing influence of the internet and social media on young minds. He cautioned that although digital tools offer valuable opportunities for learning and growth, they also pose significant risks when not properly monitored.

“You must watch out for and monitor everything they do,” he urged. “Let’s be intentional about what they are learning, because they are the future workforce, the family builders, and the shapers of tomorrow’s world.”

Pastor Otenaike noted that the modern world is being increasingly shaped by digital advancements. While acknowledging that many children today are even more tech-savvy than their parents, he emphasized the importance of guiding them to use technology for self-development rather than harm.

“Children must be taught to be digitally responsible,” he said. “We must also teach them to be aware of their physical environment.”

The cleric urged parents not to leave their children’s wellbeing to chance, stressing that their development is essential for building a sane and progressive society. According to him, children play a vital role in community stability and the economic growth of the nation.

Pastor Otenaike, who recently earned a Doctorate Degree in Strategic Leadership, also encouraged parents to discover and nurture their children’s unique talents for their overall growth and fulfillment.
Also speaking at the event, the church’s women leader and co-pastor, Mrs. Esther Otenaike, encouraged women around the world to embrace personal development while caring for their families. She emphasized that a woman’s role now goes far beyond the kitchen.

“Women must continue to grow and evolve, even as they manage the home,” she stated.

Commenting on the joint celebration of Mothers and Children’s Day, Mrs. Lilian Onose, a member of the church, shared her thoughts on motherhood. “The journey from womanhood into motherhood has been a bundle of experiences for me,” she said. “It’s a path that reveals itself step by step, and one you can hardly explain until you walk it yourself.”

Highlights of the celebration included a Bible trivia competition by the children, dance performances, and the cutting of a celebratory cake.
