The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau and other notable Nigerians have felicitated Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Speaker Abbas, who is taking part in this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia, urged the Nigerian Muslims to pray for the country, particular the leaders.
The Speaker also implored them to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, which is one of the hallmarks of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
While extending the admonition to all Nigerians, Speaker Abbas called for personal and collective sacrifices for the nation towards its development and growth.
He said a period like this calls for renewed commitment to the worship of Allah (SWT), noting that with unity of purpose, Nigerians can prosper.
“Through prayers, selfishness, dedication, and renewed hope, we shall overcome our challenges as a nation,” the speaker said.
Abbas, therefore, urged Nigerians to see the current socio-economic situation as a temporary sacrifice towards a prosperous country under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Also, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has rejoiced with the Muslim Ummah across Nigeria and the world on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
Dr Ganduje, in a message released by his chief press secretary, Edwin Olofu, described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant reminder of the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his willingness to submit to the will of Almighty Allah.
He urged Muslims to emulate this great example by embracing the values of selflessness, generosity, and service to humanity.
“As we mark this sacred festival, I call on all Muslims to reflect on the essence of Eid-el-Kabir, which teaches us the importance of sacrifice, obedience to divine command, and the spirit of giving. Let us use this period to show kindness to our neighbours, extend a helping hand to the less privileged, and promote unity and peace in our communities,” Ganduje said.
He further called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation, especially as the country continues on the path of economic recovery and development under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The APC national chairman added that Eid-El-Kabir is a celebration that exemplifies the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion.
He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) accepts the supplications and sacrifices of the faithful and grants everyone a joyous and peaceful celebration.
On his part, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, rejoiced with Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir, emphasising the importance of unity among citizens.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged Muslims – and indeed all Nigerians – to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and the country’s progress.
Senator Barau, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, called on Nigerians to continue praying for the well-being of the country and to offer their full support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the President is genuinely working toward peace and the socio-economic prosperity of the nation.
“I wish Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians, a memorable Eid-El-Kabir. This season reminds us to obey Allah’s instructions, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. True Muslims should adhere to peace, tolerance, justice, and charity.
“In the spirit of this season, irrespective of our faith, let us rededicate and commit ourselves to the dreams and aspirations of building a strong, united, and economically sound country.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated strong leadership and genuine commitment in addressing our country’s challenges. Over the past two years, he has made considerable progress in tackling security issues and stimulating the economy. By the grace of God, the fruits of these efforts will benefit all. We are on the path to prosperity,” he said.
Similarly, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, felicitated with all Nigerians, particularly the Muslim Ummah, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
This year’s celebration coincides with the 2nd Anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
The SGF in a statement by the director information in his office , Segun Imohiosen urged Nigerians to reflect on the life of Prophet Ibrahim, which symbolises faith, sacrifice, obedience and total reliance on the will of Allah.
He emphasised the need to seize the celebration to reflect deeply on the values of peace, unity, compassion, and patriotism.
Sen. Akume reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of President Tinubu’s administration to delivering the dividends of democracy and ensuring that the sacrifices made by citizens yield tangible benefits in the nearest future through sustained reforms, inclusive economic growth, improved governance and security.
The SGF, on behalf of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), extended his warm wishes for a peaceful, joyous, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-ul-Adha celebration to all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
Also, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has extended his felicitations to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, calling for renewed commitment to peace, unity and national development.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described the festival as a moment for reflection on the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, and obedience to divine will.
“As we commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, we are reminded of the values of obedience, faith, and selflessness,” he said. “I urge all Nigerians to embody these virtues, fostering a culture of peace, understanding, and cooperation.”
The Senate President acknowledged the challenges facing the nation and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking bold steps to address them through ongoing economic and fiscal reforms.
Akpabio also urged Nigerians to use the festive period to promote interfaith harmony and national cohesion.
