The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the Command’s Tactical Units to work closely with other security agencies and local vigilantes to track down the bandits responsible for the recent disturbances in Agwa Community, which resulted in the death of three persons and a few injuries.
This was made known through a statement made available to newsmen by the police public relations officers (PPRO), Henry Okoye.
Consequently, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, has launched a well-coordinated search operation across targeted locations, including forest areas and suspected hideouts. This effort aims to apprehend those responsible and ensure they face justice swiftly.
In addition to the operational response, the CP has strongly condemned the violence and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a thorough investigation to apprehend the culprits.
CP Danjuma further extended his condolences to the families affected and assured residents of Agwa and neighbouring communities that the situation is fully under control. Enhanced security measures have been put in place to prevent any recurrence.
Locals said the three people were ambushed and killed by armed herdsmen in Umuekpu community along the Agwa – Ejemekwuru Road on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the victims were travellers passing through the community to get to their destination.
Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the killing disclosed that the command had commenced a search for the suspects whom he described as bandits.
