The celebration was low as directed by the governor following the devastating flood that recently claimed lives in Mokwa local government area of the state.

Bago called on residents of the state to continue to pray fervently for peace, growth and development of the state and the country.

The  governor’s message was relayed through his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, after observing the two units of congregational prayer at the Minna Eid prayer ground.

While appreciating Allah for His mercies and guidance, he called for sober reflection and used the medium to remind residents of the state to also pray for the victims of the recent Mokwa flood disaster.

He also drew the attention of those residing at river banks and farmers to be cautious of their activities at the riverside as there had been warnings from weather experts on imminent floods this year.

The chief imam of Minna, Mal. Jibril Imam in his sermon called on Muslims to continue to reflect on the teachings of the sacrificial festival and be better Muslims by moving closer to Allah in worship.

The Eid prayer was attended by the Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Faruk Bahago.

The Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, urged Muslims to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s virtues of sacrifice, obedience and submissiveness to the will of Allah in order for peace and development

He made the appeal in his Sallah message to the Muslim Ummah in his domain after prayers  at the Eid praying ground in Bida yesterday.

Alhaji Abubakar also advised Nigerians to strive to live in peace with  one another, irrespective of religious, political, cultural and ethnic affinities.
