FG To Begin Tolling Of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway December

Indication has emerged that the federal government will commence the tolling of the completed 30km section of the Lagos-Calabar coastal Highway in December this year.

The minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi revealed this on Thursday when President Bola Tinubu commissioned the Lekki-Epe Deep Sea ports Tax credit roads in Lagos to unlock road connectivity along the Lagos Free trade zones, Ijebu-Ode and Dangote refinery axis.

Umahi commended the president’s bold and visionary leadership in actualizing road projects while he highlighted the Tax credit roads and four legacy projects of his administration which are; Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, Sokoto-Badagry, transatlantic roads among others.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had at the unveiling of the road said the commissioning of Lekki Deep Sea ports and 27km Dangote Refinery dual Access Road in Lagos is a transformational action that would help to enhance access to road infrastructure and attract returns on investments.

He explained that the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery dual access road would enhance transportation and directly spur the realization of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

The president reaffirmed his commitment to deliver enduring infrastructure across the nation, adding that he will finance more infrastructure projects which are the backbone of the economy and job creation.

He asserted that the Renewed Hope agenda is a testament of several bold policies and projects conceived by his administration which he said are nearing timely completion.

The chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said several projects along the industrial corridors of the Dangote refinery is a national script written by the president whom he said is the brain child of projects spanning across every part of the country.

Dangote pointed out that President Bola Tinubu’s bold economic policy would enhance economic recovery and unlock the potential of global maritime trade while stating that the testament of his bold policy was already seen in areas of currency control, stabilizing of crude price, petrol price and reinforcing of LPG, CNG gas market.

He applauded the president’s decision on local content drive in boosting self- sufficiency and reducing dependency on importation of goods while stressing that the policy has improved several areas of our national needs with local content creation boosting indigenous economy and hedging against inflation.

Chairman of BUA Group, Ahmad Samad described the Access road corridors as a vital road that would open up trade, strengthen regional connectivity across border communities.

He stated that the road will lead several chunks of trade across regional divides while adding that it will improve rapid progress and also actualize the momentum and delivery of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

He also stated that the Tax credit roads will close the N30 trillion infrastructure gap and lead the gateway of development and shared responsibility across regions in the country.
