The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has extended greetings to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir 2025, calling for solidarity with flood victims in Mokwa, Niger State.

In a statement signed by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the Christian body emphasised the shared values of sacrifice, love, and kindness between Christians and Muslims, urging Nigerians to use the festive period to promote peace and unity.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim, teaching us sacrifice and compassion, values that both our religions hold dear.

“This is a time to come together, share joy, and strengthen our bonds as one nation,” he said.

The statement also highlighted the devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed lives, destroyed homes, and left many families in distress.

CAN expressed deep sympathy for the victims and called for immediate assistance.

“We send our prayers to those affected and urge churches, individuals, and organisations to support relief efforts. Whether through food, clothing, donations, or prayers, every act of kindness counts,” he stated.

The Christian body also commended the Niger State Government and emergency responders for their efforts, pledging to collaborate with authorities to provide aid.

“Even in hardship, Nigerians remain resilient. This season of sacrifice reminds us to extend love and hope to those in need,” Okoh said
