The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has condemned an Afenifere faction’s call for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation and impeachment.
The association’s national president, Olalekan Hammed, said yesterday that the fact that President Tinubu was referring to the chairman, Chagoury Group, Mr. Gilbert Chagoury as a partner did amount to violating terms of contract or breach of contract.
“It is not unlawful for a president or governor to award a contract for a company that is owned by a professional colleague who has a track record of competence and integrity to deliver,” he said.
According to the group, the Chagoury group had handled big projects that were well executed in the past.
“The Lagos Atlantic City is undoubtedly a pointer to the fact that Chagoury Group has what it takes to meet the expectations of Nigerians by making sure that quality job is done as regards Lagos-Calabar Coastal road.
“President Tinubu is known for admiring competence and at the same time committed to putting in place necessary infrastructural development that are capable of improving the nation’s economy and making life more meaningful for citizens.
“Moreover, Mr. President has not breached any contract agreement as alleged by the Afenifere faction, awarding a contract to a company he believes can do a very good job doesn’t make him a self-serving president.
“Calling for his impeachment for addressing Gilbert Chagoury as a partner is nothing but a despicable statement”, the group said.
