In what could be described as the beginning of a major crack in Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s political circle ahead of the governorship election in the state in 2026, a member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Hon. Wale Ade-Oba, has publicly dumped Governor Oyebanji and pledged to work with Engr. Kayode Ojo in realising the latter’s gubernatorial ambition.

Hon. Alade-Oba, through a statement in Ado Ekiti, expressed readiness to work with the current UNN’s pro-chancellor, Engr.Ojo, to develop the state after the failure of Gov. Oyebanji to perform despite the availability of huge allocations.

He said,  “I’m writing to share with you a personal decision that may surprise many. As you know, I’ve been serving as an appointee under the current administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji (BAO). However, after much reflection, I’ve decided to join forces with Engr. Kayode Ojo, a leader with a vision for a better Ekiti.”

The politician accused Gov. Oyebanji of underperformance despite what he described as the highest allocations to the state in the history of Ekiti governors.

He said, “I believe the administration hasn’t delivered meaningful development to many local government areas, including mine, Irepodun/Ifelodun. The governor’s office seems to revolve around just a few individuals, leaving many commissioners without meaningful assignments.

“Our party members are being overlooked and undervalued despite their hard work and dedication to the party’s success. Instead, opposition party members who didn’t contribute to our victory are appointed to key positions, while our loyal supporters are ignored.

“The governor is often out of the state, pursuing unclear agendas, and this absence is felt in the lack of productivity under the present administration. I believe it’s time for a change.

“Engr. Kayode Ojo’s leadership style and vision for Ekiti resonate with me. I believe his administration would prioritise the needs of our people, recognise the efforts of our party members, and drive development across all local government areas.”

Alade-Ojo also warned Governor Oyebanji’s thugs to desist from harassing him and others who are tired of the misrule of the administration, noting that he is a bonfire citizen of Ekiti State and that the threat of the governor’s thugs is an effort in futility.

“In conclusion, I’m making this change because I want to be part of a government that truly serves the people of Ekiti and values the contributions of its loyal supporters. I’m willing to work towards a brighter future for our state, and I invite you all to join me on this journey.”
