Lagos State government, in collaboration with tech solutions firm WALURE and the Education Resource Centre, has unveiled a cutting-edge Digital Teaching platform to transform public education in the state.

The initiative, driven by the state’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, aims to modernise teaching and learning across public schools through innovative technology and dynamic digital content.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, hailed the hub as a transformative milestone.

He said, “This goes beyond infrastructure, it’s a dynamic platform for student-teacher engagement, mentorship, capacity building, and real-time subject instruction.”

According to him, the hub, which is located at the Education Resource Centre and operated by the ministry, is fully equipped with advanced tools to deliver live and pre-recorded lessons. The resources will be accessible across multiple online and social media platforms, including Instagram, making digital education more inclusive and far-reaching.

Alli-Balogun underscored the significance of integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into education, adding, “Education is our future, and ICT is the engine that drives it. By combining both, we’re already on the path to sustainable progress.”

He further revealed plans to expand the hub’s offerings to include content tailored for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and vocational and technical training, positioning Lagos as a leader in digital education. “This is just the beginning. We’re working to add more subjects and involve technical schools,” he stated.

Alli-Balogun noted that the initiative has attracted federal interest while encouraging other states and countries to replicate the hub’s framework.

He said, “We recently engaged with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who is working on similar projects. If Lagos had launched this earlier, we might have become a national model”

For his part, WALURE’s General Manager, Mr. Obafemi Okunbanjo, lauded the initiative as a landmark in public-private collaboration and expressed confidence in its long-term impact.

“This hub is proof that merging traditional education with digital innovation can deliver measurable improvements in learning outcomes,” he said.
