Affordable Environment For Professionals

Regus, a brand of International Workplace Group (IWG), has said it is determined to provide an affordable environment where professionals can deliver high-quality work, which has the ripple effects of generating income, supporting their families, paying taxes, and contributing to the nation’s economy.

The country director of Regus Nigeria, Ayo Akinmade, stated this at the unveiling of the group’s workspaces in Murjanatu House, Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday to reinforce its mission of making flexible, affordable office spaces more accessible to Nigerian professionals, and also grant customers access to all Regus centres worldwide.

The spaces are to serve both corporate and independent professionals with cutting-edge facilities, a seamless onboarding process, and a welcoming environment designed for collaboration and creativity.

Akinmade, while highlighting the broader economic impact of the initiative, said, “We aim to provide an affordable environment where professionals can deliver high-quality work. The significant ripple effect enables people to work professionally, generate income, support their families, pay taxes, and contribute to the economy.

“We expect many businesses operating here will be VAT-registered, remitting taxes to the government and creating employment. This is our third location in Abuja. He added that the facility spans 1,200 square metres and will house between 50 and 60 office units”.

Akinmade stated that the concept was inspired by a gap he observed upon returning to Nigeria from the United Kingdom, where he had been working.

“When I moved back, there was nothing like this. We started in Lagos, then Port Harcourt, and now Abuja. It’s a hybrid model—before COVID, no one even used the term ‘hybrid’.”

He also said the firm conducts a stringent vetting process to ensure security and credibility, given the realities in Nigeria, by carrying out extensive checks before granting access to its spaces.

“Clients must submit photo ID and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) documents, as well as provide banking details and professional references. We want to avoid any misuse of the facility.”

Also speaking, Valentine Nwandu, the chief executive officer of VCN Spaces and a partner of Regus, said the spaces will be conducive to start-ups and young entrepreneurs who can not afford to lease traditional offices but need immediate and professional space to operate from.

“You can’t get a better location in Abuja. Key institutions surround us: Transcorp Hilton is down the road, the Federal High Courts are nearby, and INEC and NEPA are nearby. It’s as central and accessible as it gets.

“For businesses and their employees, this makes commuting straightforward. And being surrounded by premium clientele enhances the quality of the environment. For start-ups and young entrepreneurs who can’t yet afford to lease traditional offices, this offers an immediate and professional space from which to operate.

“Once you’re a member here, you can use our facilities in Lagos, Kano or elsewhere. It expands your capacity to do business across Nigeria.”
