As Nigeria commemorates 25 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, the Tiv community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the aegis of Mdzough U Tiv Abuja Chapter, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to incorporate socio-cultural organisations into national development planning and budgeting.

In a Democracy Day message signed by MUTAB President Hon Michael Terver Kokoiwen, the group congratulated President Tinubu and Nigerians on the historic milestone, emphasising the need for grassroots inclusion in shaping national policies.

Kokoiwen noted that cultural bodies such as MUTAB play a pivotal role in promoting peace, unity, and local development, and should be seen as partners in nation-building.

“As we reflect on our democratic journey, we respectfully appeal for increased inclusion and recognition of socio-cultural organisations in national development planning and budgetary allocations. Such support will amplify grassroots development and deepen cultural organisations’ role in achieving national goals,” Kokoiwen said.

The group identified key areas for collaboration between the government and cultural bodies, including community development, security, and economic empowerment.

According to MUTAB, such partnerships can help promote local heritage, support entrepreneurial efforts, and build trust between communities and security agencies.

Kokoiwen reaffirmed the Tiv community’s support for President Tinubu’s administration, commending its focus on dialogue, national cohesion, and institutional reform.

“Your consistent emphasis on dialogue, principled leadership, and service to the nation resonates strongly with the ideals we uphold as a community-based organisation,” he stated.

The message concluded with a renewed commitment from the Tiv community to partner with the federal government in fostering inclusive development, unity, and progress across the nation.

“We are confident that your leadership will continue to be a source of strength and guidance as we explore practical ways to integrate socio-cultural organisations like MUTAB into national frameworks for sustainable development,” Kokoiwen added.
