Governor Buni stated this in his message commemorating this year’s Democracy Day on June 12, saying that the people’s support of government policies and programmes has strengthened democracy in the state.

Buni noted that 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria has given the people a sense of participation and ownership of the government.

According to him, the appointments of youths as commissioners, chief executives of government agencies, special advisers, special assistants and focal persons have enhanced governance in the state.

“lt is gratifying that democracy has provided opportunity for the people to have their voices heard, to participate in governance and to own the government,” the governor said.

Buni assured that there is a prosperous future for the state and country with the active participation of youth in politics and engagement in governance.

He pledged more dividends of democracy to improve the lives of the people, assuring that all ongoing projects would be completed for the government to have value for its money and for the projects to be beneficial to the people.

The Yobe State Governor also urged the people to take advantage of the rainy season to embrace agriculture, support security agencies and promote the virtues of peaceful coexistence in the state.

He further called for more cooperation for democracy to thrive and improve good governance.
