The resumption of operations commenced hours after the tragic crash of a London-bound Air India Boeing 787, which went down shortly after takeoff, prompting emergency protocols and the grounding of operations at the airport.

Emergency and rescue efforts remained ongoing at the crash site near Meghani Nagar, just outside the airport perimeter.

Authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties but disclosed that there were 242 people on board.

Among those on board were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian.
