Bauchi State health commissioner, Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam, has appealed to residents to voluntarily donate blood at designated health facilities across the state, emphasising the importance of building a reliable supply for patients in need of transfusion.

The commissioner made the appeal during the 2025 World Blood Donor Day commemoration yesterday at the Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi.

Dr. Dambam who was represented by the director of medical laboratory and sciences in the ministry, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim, underscored the critical role of functional blood banks in emergency healthcare delivery.

He urged healthy and eligible individuals to develop the habit of donating blood regularly, saying, “Blood donation is about saving lives. We encourage residents to embrace the spirit of voluntary donation.”

The commissioner also assured that the state government remained committed to improving healthcare delivery, including supporting blood bank infrastructure to ensure a healthier society.
