Youths in the early hours of Sunday blocked the popular Food Basket roundabout in Makurdi, the Benue State capital city, in protest against the bloody killings across the State.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene of the protest, observed that there was a traffic grid, which left commuters travelling in and out of Makurdi stranded.

It was also observed through songs being chanted by the protesters that they rejected the directives of the State’s Commissioner of Police, who gave them 10 minutes to leave as they sang “we also give the Police 10 minutes to end the killings else we are not going anywhere”.

It was also observed that truckloads of battle-ready joint security personnel were stationed at the Food Basket Roundabout to keep vigil and possibly stop the protest.

LEADERSHIP reports that viral photos and videos on the social media have shown the moment a social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, a.k.a. VeryDarkMan, arrived the State’s capital city to join the protest against killings on Sunday.
