The federal government has been urged to urgently introduce leadership training courses in schools for Nigerian youths in order to secure a brighter future and better leaders for the country.
A development expert, Michael Ale who gave the advice also admonished Nigerians to make regular payment of taxes a point of duty as an elixir to the problems of inefficient social infrastructures, lack of growth and development.
Ale, who commended President Bola Tinubu for making more funds available to sub-national governments with the removal of the fuel subsidy, urged the President to continue to prioritize the welfare of the people as well as provide an enabling environment for all to thrive.
The development expert who stated this in his message to commemorate the Democracy Day celebration made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said equipping the young people with leadership skills will prepare them for leadership positions in the future.
He said, “We must ensure that our youths of today are properly trained in leadership so that they would lead right when they eventually take over from the present crop of leaders.
“This to me, is the only way we can secure a brighter future for ourselves and we can solve all our problems with good governance. Insecurity and poor economy, all these could be tackled with good governance. “.
Harping on why people must see tax payment as an obligation, he said there would be sufficient funds for government at all levels to provide social infrastructures and other dividends of democracy.
