‘Insurance Week To Focus On Awareness, Education’

The president of the Chartered  Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Yetunde Ilori said, the upcoming ‘Insurance Week’ is meant to increase insurance awareness, education and acceptance in the country.

This is even as the corporate communications managers in insurance industry have implored themselves on active participation in the programme. The Insurance Week, which is going to be a week celebration, will showcase different activities to enhance and deepen insurance penetration.

Speaking in a virtual meeting held at the weekend, Ilori disclosed that, the programme is, ‘Insurance For All: Securing Nigeria Future’.

The celebrations, she said, would kickstart on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with an insurance awareness walk, which would commence from NEM Insurance Plc Head office, located at Obanikoro, along Ikorodu Road and terminate at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The grand opening ceremony, she stressed, is billed for June 30, 2025 at Nigerian insurers Association (NIA) hall in Victoria Island Lagos, followed by an insurance awareness campaign holding on July 1, at selected secondary schools and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises MSMEs); adding that, on July 2, there will be an insurance outreach at Sabo Market; Oyingbo Market; Bariga Market; Shoprite and Spar.

Other events she listed are; Hackathon competition, holding at the College of Insurance and Financial Management (CIFM) in Asese, Ogun State on July 3 and the grand finale, scheduled for July 4, in Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos.

 

The celebrations,she pointed out,  will hold at the same period in Ibadan; Abuja; Port Harcourt and Kano, adding that, the insurance industry will leverage the event to reward Nigerians by giving awards to people who have been promoting insurance culture, while the general public would be giving beautiful packages during the awareness campaigns.

Saying the event’s Mascot is christened, Niko, she noted that, the one week event would help in making insurance accessible to Nigerians, stressing that, the event would be held yearly.

 

Chairman of the Insurance Week Organising Committee, Eddie Efekoha, applauded  Ilori for the laudable and transformative event initiated by her administration and implored all stakeholders in the insurance industry value chain to support the initiative that is aimed at growing insurance business and depending penetration.

 

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Corporate Affairs Managers of Nigeria Insurance Association (CAMCONIA),  Segun Bankole has called on his colleagues nationwide to be actively involved through their individual companies in the forthcoming maiden edition of the Insurance Week which kicks off on June 27 through July 4, 2025.

 

He made this plea at the monthly meeting of the Corporate Affairs Managers of the Nigerian Insurance industry.

 

In his remarks, he said,  the Insurance Week will be a pivotal platform for the insurance industry in Nigeria to showcase the importance of insurance to the everyday life of every Nigerian wherever they are located.

 

“The insurance Week will provide the various brands in the Nigerian insurance industry to put on display their various offerings and the value they can create for their customers in any part of the country. It is an opportunity to flaunt their brands in a very unique, competitive and cooperative manner while engendering the growth of the insurance industry in the country and possibly, beyond,” he pointed out.
