The Northern Stakeholders Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s strides in promoting youth development.

A communique issued at the weekend after its NEC/Caucus meeting in Kaduna said that while commending the efforts of the federal government, state governors, and security agencies, the forum also called on all stakeholders to rally to fight insecurity in the region.

In the communique signed by the chairman of the forum, Hon. Bagudu Joseph, the forum also cautioned Northern youth to shun violence, use of illicit drugs, and other criminal activities.

The forum appreciated Comrade Ayodele Olawande, the minister of youth development, for his inclusive leadership style and appealed to the honourable minister to reorganise youth activities in the country for optimum performance.

The forum commends the NYCN President, Amb. Sokubo Seraigbe Sokubo, for his firm stand on a peaceful transition to produce a new set of council leaders.

The NYCN Northern Stakeholders, however, reiterated their position that the next NYCN president should come from the North, based on the constitutional provision that power should rotate between the North and South. They added that “any incumbencies that will hinder the return of the NYCN President to the North will be strongly rejected.”
