The Geneith Health Competition organisers have commended Nigerian students for embracing the nationwide campaign against malaria.

The Geneith Health Competition is designed to empower young Nigerians to take ownership of the malaria response in their communities. The programme seeks to bridge gaps in health education while making effective malaria treatment more accessible.

In a statement, the competition’s initiators and sponsors, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor and Mr Emmanuel Umenwa, lauded student leaders from tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, for championing the initiative across campuses.

The student leaders include the national president of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Comrade Josiah Oche, president of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NASPS), Comrade Oyewumi Ayomide and national president of the National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Comrade Edunjobi Oluwaseun, for galvanising support among students.

Ilobanafor said, “We regard your participation in this initiative as a powerful step toward a malaria-free Nigeria. By rallying together, you have the potential to make an indelible impact on public health, raising awareness and inspiring action among your peers and communities.”

Umenwa emphasised the collective nature of the fight against malaria, urging policymakers and stakeholders to continue supporting such youth-led initiatives. “The involvement of students is crucial in this fight, as they represent the vibrant and innovative spirit necessary to enact meaningful change,” he said.

The programme is powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, a high-strength antimalarial treatment targeting Plasmodium falciparum.

Beyond awareness, the initiative is structured to develop student leadership through workshops, health walks, and community outreach. Participants will gain practical knowledge on malaria prevention while building the skills needed to drive long-term health improvements in Nigeria.
