In celebration of the 2025 Day of the African Child, Tomorrow’s Women Development Organisation (TWDO), in partnership with JC Best Schools and Amanna Gold Foundation, hosted a commemorative event focused on the African Union’s theme: “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.

The founder of TWDO and child rights advocate, Hon. Chinyere Ezenwokike, delivered the keynote address. She described the theme as a timely reminder of the need for evidence-based, accountable investments in children’s development. She commended proactive institutions like JC Best Schools and called for counterpart funding from the government and private entities. Ezenwokike also emphasised the importance of a collaborative approach among NGOs, civil society, and government in safeguarding the dignity and future of every African child.

Ezenwokike traced the origins of the Day of the African Child to the 1976 Soweto Uprising in South Africa and emphasised the need to stop violations of children’s rights across the continent.

Founder/CEO of Amanna Gold Foundation, Mrs. Nnodim Josephine, reiterated her organisation’s commitment to child protection and empowerment. She called for systems and legislation that prioritise the holistic development of children and urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and proactive in promoting their rights and well-being.

Rector of JC Best Schools, Mrs. Uloma Edna Onorah, added to the conversation by challenging educationists and curriculum developers to adopt child-centred approaches that promote justice and equity. She emphasised the non-negotiable nature of children’s rights and the need for educators to serve as advocates within and beyond the classroom.
