The family residence of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, was once again attacked on Tuesday night at her country home in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Media Office, it was revealed that the armed men vandalised several windows. However, with the swift intervention of officers from the local police station, community vigilantes, and concerned youths, the attackers were repelled and one suspect was apprehended.

The suspect, identified as Suberu Jose—a ritualist believed to be affiliated with the lawmaker’s political opposition and a native of the community—was arrested at the scene. He reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted it was his third time participating in attacks on the lawmaker’s family home.

An angry mob attempted to descend on the suspect before he was rescued and handed over to the police. A cutlass and charms were recovered from him. Other suspects involved in the attack, reportedly armed with dangerous weapons, remained at large at press time.

It will be recalled that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home was previously attacked on April 15, 2025, with no arrests made at the time. This recent arrest marked the first breakthrough in what appears to be a coordinated pattern of violence against the embattled female Senator.

The renewed assault comes amid political tensions, as the Federal Government recently filed two separate criminal charges against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. The charges followed her public allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which led to her controversial six-month suspension from the Senate.

“We call on the public to remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of justice. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi State, SP William Ovye Aya, who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent via a telephone conversation on Wednesday evening, said: “it’s true that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house in Ihima was attacked yesterday (Tuesday).”

He confirmed that one person was arrested in connection with the incident, saying the suspect was offering useful information to the security agents in the area.

Sp Aya assured that other suspects who were on the run would be apprehended and made to face the consequences of their action.
