Iran is ready to consider diplomacy “once the aggression is stopped”, the country’s foreign minister said yesterday following talks with some of his European counterparts.
Foreign ministers from France, the UK and Germany said they were keen to see “ongoing discussions” on Tehran’s nuclear programme.

But US President Donald Trump has cast doubt over the impact of the talks, saying: “Iran doesn’t want to speak to Europe, Iran wants to speak to us.”

It came as the exchange of fire between Israel and Iran continued, with Israel hit by a new round of Iranian strikes yesterday afternoon.

Earlier, the Israeli military said it attacked dozens of targets, including what it called missile manufacturing sites in Tehran.

It came after the White House said Trump would decide in the next fortnight whether to take direct US action in the conflict.
