NDDC Partners Firm To Empower 1,000 Youths On Digital Skills

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is collaborating with Mathesis Events to train not fewer than 1,000 youths on digital skills.

Spokesperson for the organisation, Preston Audu who revealed this to LEADERSHIP in Calabar, Cross River State, said the youths summit will steer young people away from cyber fraud by harnessing legitimate opportunities available in the digital economy.

Audu stressed that knowledge which would be gained in the June 25, 2025 digital summit scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt will re-orient youths to focus on their potential by learning legitimate channels through which they can earn money in the abounding digital space.

Audu who disclosed the theme of the training as; “Beyond Oil, Shaping a Digital Future For The Niger Delta,” maintained that the era where you the of the Niger Delta think that money can only be made from the oil sector was over, adding that there is abundant resources to be tapped in the digital sector.

He said with the right tools and knowledge, a lot can be achieved from the sector without indulging in cyber criminality.

The spokesman said youths at the summit will have the opportunity to turnaround their fortune, and called on the young ones in region to embrace the summit as an opportunity to empower themselves.

“This summit is not just about infrastructure and innovation, it’s about a mindset revolution. It’s about replacing fraud with foresight, and scams with skills. It is time to show our youth that the internet holds more than shortcuts. It holds careers, creativity, and credibility.

“The summit organised by Mathesis Events, supported by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), will give starter packs of N1million to some youths to enable them start up their ICT enterprises.

“We are going to let participants know that the region can still sustain its self without oil,” he assured.

Audu enumerated other issues that will be featured at the summit to include conversation around digital transformation in the region, investment and infrastructure opportunities in broadband, fintech, creatives agritech, and clean energy as well as exposing youths to digital careers, remote work and entrepreneurship.
