Abuja-based alternative music acts CEF, Odenose, and Jarell Ebuka headlined the Institut Français 2025 World Music Day Festival, held on June 21 at Calypso Parks and Gardens in Wuse II, Abuja.

World Music Day, launched on June 21 by French Culture Minister Jack Lang and Director of Music and Dance Maurice Fleuret, celebrates music through free public performances. The one-day festival encourages people to take to the streets to enjoy live concerts throughout the day.

World Music Day is celebrated globally on June 21 in over 120 countries, including France, India, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia, Australia, Peru, Brazil, the US, the UK, and Japan.

In Nigeria, the French cultural agency Institut Français hosts the event annually. Initially held at its own venue, the festival has recently expanded to larger entertainment spots across Abuja.

This year, Soul and Roots artist CEF headlines the celebration alongside other Abuja talents, including Afro Neo-soul and R&B singer Odenose and acoustic storyteller Jarell Ebuka.
