Former presidential candidate Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd) has ruled out the possibility of joining any coalition ahead of the next general elections, citing ideological differences and a firm belief in his independent political path.

Al-Mustapha in an interview with BBC Hausa Service aired monitored by our correspondent in Bauchi yesterday, said his decision was not borne out of isolation but a commitment to staying true to his principles and commitment to remake Nigeria great again.

“There are clear ideological contrasts between my vision and that of the coalition. I am not alone in this struggle; you will soon see the strength of my support base,” he said.

Al-Mustapha hinted that his movement had been gaining momentum, driven by grassroots support from Nigerians eager for change.

Reflecting on his previous candidacy, Al-Mustapha described it as a strategic test to gauge his standing in the political landscape.

“My participation in the last election was a deliberate move to test the waters and understand the dynamics. Now, the consultations I’ve had with key stakeholders are yielding encouraging results,” he said.

He also raised concerns about alleged irregularities during the last elections, describing them as a setback to democracy. Al-Mustapha accused certain forces of rigging the process to stifle alternative voices, but vowed not to relent.

He assured his supporters of his commitment to provide a credible alternative in the political arena. “We are building a platform that represents the true aspirations of Nigerians,” he asserted.

He maintained that his growing support could potentially give him victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Al-Mustapha had declared interest to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of SDP.
