Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has restated his administration’s commitment to playing an active role in transforming Nigeria’s electricity sector, pledging robust collaboration with fellow governors and federal stakeholders to deliver reliable and affordable power to millions of Nigerians.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Energy and Power, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, Governor Radda joined other key stakeholders at the National Economic Council (NEC) Ad-hoc Committee meeting on the National Electricity Strategy & Implementation Plan (NESIP) held in Abuja.

The high-level session, chaired by Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, brought together governors from Imo and Plateau States as well as the Ministers of Power, Budget and Economic Planning, and Finance.

The meeting focused on developing a comprehensive roadmap to address the nation’s longstanding electricity challenges through coordinated policies, infrastructure investment, and renewable energy solutions.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Ahmed reaffirmed the governor’s unwavering dedication to the national agenda.

“His leadership continues to reflect a deep dedication to working alongside fellow governors and federal stakeholders to fast-track meaningful reforms in Nigeria’s power sector,” he said.

He stressed that the consensus among stakeholders was clear and unanimous: achieving a stable power supply is a non-negotiable imperative for Nigeria’s economic growth and the well-being of its citizens.

“With a unified national strategy and shared commitment, we are determined to light up Nigeria’s future, one policy, one investment, and one community at a time,” Dr. Ahmed stated.

Participants at the session deliberated on aligning NESIP with national development priorities while tailoring solutions to the unique needs of individual states.

Focus areas included infrastructure upgrades, innovative financing models, and expanding renewable energy integration to ensure sustainability.

Governor Radda’s administration has consistently prioritised energy reforms as a catalyst for industrialisation, job creation, and improved quality of life for Katsina residents.

The governor’s active engagement at the national level, according to Dr. Ahmed, underscores Katsina’s resolve to be part of the solution to the country’s power deficit.

The NEC Ad-hoc Committee is expected to finalise and roll out an actionable implementation plan in the coming months, setting the stage for a new era of stable and inclusive electricity supply across Nigeria.
