A 100 level student in the Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control at Taraba State Polytechnic Jalingo, Mr. Paul Saanmoyol who was recently electrocuted while flying flag of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has thanked Taraba State governor Agbu Kefas for providing proper medical care while in hospitals.
Saanmoyol was electrocuted in Jalingo Taraba State capital on May 21, 2025 while flying PDP flag with iron rod handle which touched electric wire during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Taraba State. The president was later represented by the vice president, Kashim Shetima to flag off Taraba Investment Summit “TARAVEST”.
The 100 level student was rushed to Girad Hospital Magami in Jalingo under the sponsorship of the governor where he was first treated.
After series of treatment, Saanmoyol was later transfer to National Orthopedic Hospital, inside Taraba State Specialist Hospital Jalingo where his two hands were amputated on the 19th of June, 2025.
Speaking with our correspondent in his hospital bed, Saanmoyol thanked Governor Kefas for the payment of his medical bills since the day of his misfortune to the level of amputation.
Saanmoyol while speaking to LEADERSHIP also said his mates were to commence semester examination on Monday, 23rd June, 2025, and lamented his inability to seat for the examination. He further begged the state government to assist him with artificial hands to enable him remain useful to himself and his family.
“I must appreciate governor Agbu Kefas for his tireless efforts by ensuring that all my medical bills are promptly paid. I also thank my coordinator Hon. Iliya Kefas who has been by my side since the day of misfortune. I am pleading with the Taraba State government to assist me with artificial hands so that after I’m discharged from the hospital, I will be of use to myself and my family again.
“I know that there are no job opportunities but am pleading with the governor to as a matter of magnanimity to find an opportunity for me where I can earn monthly income through handwork or skills to remain useful to myself and my family,” Saanmoyol stated.
