Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde, has renamed famous The Polytechnic, Ibadan, after a former governor of the state, late Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
Makinde announced the renaming on Thursday during the state burial ceremony held for the late elder statesman in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Olunloyo, who served as governor of the old Oyo State in the Second Republic between October and December 1983, was the first Ibadan indigene to occupy the position.
He also previously served as Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde said the institution will now be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, describing the gesture as a tribute to the late governor’s contributions to education and public service in the State.
