Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially announced the renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in honour of the late former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.

The governor announced this during a brief address at the interdenominational commendation service held in memory of the late elder statesman at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.
Makinde noted that the decision to rename the institution was a fitting tribute to Olunloyo, the polytechnic’s pioneer Rector, who made significant contributions to education and governance in Oyo State.

He stated that the institution will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.

“Dr. Olunloyo served as the first Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and played a significant role in the institution’s early development.

“He was remembered as an academic colossus, technocrat, and visionary leader who laid a solid foundation for the institution’s growth.

“His legacy continues to inspire generations, and the renaming of the polytechnic is a fitting tribute to his enduring impact.
