Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced a N2 billion intervention for the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta with a view to boosting critical infrastructure that will further bolster an environment conducive for teaching and learning in the institution.
Speaking during the 15th combined convocation ceremony for over 51,000 graduates of the 2015 to 2024 academic sessions, Abiodun, who is also the Visitor to the polytechnic, also announced cash rewards of N22.5m to the nine best-graduating students, who all bagged distinctions across various disciplines. Each of them got N2.5m.
They include Sonde Augustine Chibuzor, Civil Engineering (Structural), 2015/2016; Ogunjimi Titilope Olalekan, Civil Engineering (Structural), 2016/2017; Owolabi Joseph Oluwatobiloba, Mathematics/Statistics, 2017/2018; Adewusi Esther Oluwakemi, Food Technology, 2018/2019; Adeoye Folasade Elizabeth, Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology/Biology), 2019/2020; Azeez Kadijat Oluwaseun, Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology/Biology), 2020/2021; Ajibola Adeniyi Monday, Civil Engineering (Structural), 2021/2022;Orisawayi Samuel Emmanuel, Civil Engineering (Structural), 2022/23; and Akindele Damilare Michael, Civil Engineering (Structural), 2023/2024.
Abiodun disclosed that the N2bn intervention included the construction of a 500-seater ultra-modern lecture theatre, a new access road to the auditorium, a dedicated building for the Department of Accountancy, a new School of Business and Management Studies (SBMS) block, and the equipping of a state-of-the-art library. He further announced the donation of a 28-seater bus to ease transportation in and out of the institution. He was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele.
