Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has reaffirmed the federal government’s unwavering commitment to pension payments under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
Ogunjimi gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the executive secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Tolulope Odunaiya, to the Treasury House in Abuja.
He said safeguarding the welfare of senior citizens remained a top priority for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He commended PTAD’s dedication and achievements despite the prevailing fiscal constraints, and pledged continued support to the directorate under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said, “Pension payments remain a non-negotiable priority, and the OAGF will continue to work closely with PTAD to ensure their welfare is protected.”
He further said the commitment to pension payments under the DBS by the federal government was seen as a positive step towards ensuring the well-being of senior citizens.
“With the support of the OAGF and PTAD, it is expected that pensioners will continue to receive their entitlements in a timely manner, providing them with the financial security they deserve,” he said.
In her remarks, the PTAD executive secretary commended the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) for its consistent support over the years. She noted that the visit was aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between both institutions to ensure effective and impactful management of DBS pensions.
