Former deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has challenged the federal government, governors, and business entrepreneurs to address the more than fifty million unemployed youths across the country.

Prince Madumere, an American-trained technocrat and business administrator, described the situation as unacceptable and unimaginable and called on the authorities to rise up and arrest this ugly scenario for the sustainable development of the nation’s economic landscape.

Prince Madumere made this known while addressing newsmen in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

He advised the government to put a mechanism in place to reenergize and reinvigorate the civil service through accurate data and statistics. This would create room for adequate planning, retirement, and recruitment of qualified personnel without sentiment.

Prince Madumere, a philanthropist and leadership expert, charged the government with arresting insecurity, building more industries, resuscitating moribund establishments, giving soft loans to industrialists, and encouraging foreign investors by creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Prince Madumere, a top Imo governorship contender in 2027, however, bemoaned the situation where youths are left to roam the streets and called on the government to instill skill sets, revive technical education, and create soft loans for the youths to establish their various businesses.

Prince Madumere said, “ The time has come for serious commitment in terms of enhancing the creativity of the youths through real and sustainable skill sets. The youths must be supported and empowered, shown the road map for the future and the leaders must be realistic and sincere in this direction as the youths are the leaders of tomorrow. We must show the light for them to find the way. “

Prince Madumere postulated that his vision, having been an active player in the global market, is that mere certificates without practical knowledge would make the youths unemployable in the job market. He advised them to do what is necessary.

The ex-deputy governor called on the government and parents to encourage their children to acquire practical knowledge and experience to secure profitable jobs and advised youths to take their studies seriously, work conscientiously, and be in a better position to defend areas of specialisation.

Prince Madumere, Imo governorship frontliner, revealed that youths are central to building an egalitarian, enviable future and must occupy centre stage in the global community.

The gubernatorial hopeful revealed that his cardinal programme, as encapsulated in the blueprint, is tailored towards the welfare and enhancement of the youth’s magnificent potential.

In his words, “Available statistics revealed that more than 80 million youths struggle with unemployment, out of a total youth population of 151 million. This positions the country as having one of the highest rates of youth unemployment globally. This is a big challenge, and we must confront it frontally, as it may lead to social instability, economic stagnation, and deprivation.”

Prince Madumere, an economic expert, however, submitted that one reason for the youth unemployment in the country is our large population.

According to him, this translates to the fact that there are more people looking for work than available job opportunities, resulting in a high unemployment rate across the country.

“We know the heartbeat of the citizenry, their yearnings and aspirations, at the appropriate time, we will rise up to the occasion and find lasting solutions to their dreams and turn the same into reality, “ he stated.
