Prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, Dr Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, has demanded a retraction and public apology from five online media platforms over reports alleging her involvement in an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Acting through her legal representatives at Law Corridor, Dr. Tejuosho described the publications, which claimed she was arrested over allegations of impersonation and fraud, as false and injurious to her reputation.

Letters dated June 25 and 26, 2025, were sent to First Weekly Magazine, Ivory NG, Mega News Nigeria, News Online Nigeria, and TheMomentNG.com, requesting immediate corrective action.

The disputed reports alleged that Dr Tejuosho was apprehended for impersonating an aide to the national security adviser and defrauding individuals using forged federal appointment letters.

They also cited a purported court recommendation that she be prosecuted on charges including advance fee fraud and criminal breach of trust.

In response, her legal team firmly denied the allegations, stating that Dr Tejuosho had never been arrested, indicted, or prosecuted in connection with any such matter.

“These are fabrications circulated without basis and without affording our client any opportunity to respond,” the lawyers said in their communication.

According to the legal team, the reports have caused significant reputational damage and personal distress, with Dr Tejuosho receiving troubling messages from professional contacts, business associates, and members of the public.

The legal representatives are demanding a retraction of the story, a formal apology published both online and in three national newspapers, and the payment of N100 million as compensation for alleged reputational harm and psychological distress.

They further warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal action, with Dr Tejuosho prepared to seek no less than N1 billion in damages from each media organisation involved.

As of the time of this report, none of the media platforms named had issued a public response.
