The Rotary Club of Asokoro, District 9127, has officially launched its 2025/2026 service initiatives, outlining ambitious plans to drive community development, healthcare, education, and peacebuilding in Abuja and beyond.

In a press briefing yesterday, the club president, Barr. Onuorah Lynda Chinagorom, expressed gratitude to members, partners, and supporters while unveiling a comprehensive lineup of humanitarian projects for the new Rotary year as she takes over as president.

“With great excitement and humility, I welcome everyone who has contributed to the success story of the Rotary Club of Asokoro. Rotary is a beacon of unity, bringing together individuals with a shared commitment to serve humanity,” she said.

Reflecting on past achievements,  Lynda emphasised the club’s dedication to sustainable impact. “As we step into this new Rotary year, we are proud to announce projects focused on impact, inclusion, and lasting change,” she stated.

She outlined the key projects for 2025/2026, starting with Disease Prevention and Treatment, including free mosquito net distribution, oral hygiene outreach in primary schools, eye screenings, and 10 cataract surgeries.

“Basic Education and Literacy will include the provision of 12 wardrobe units for a girls’ hostel, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) training for 25 youths, and career guidance talks in secondary schools.

“Economic and Community Development will encompass skills acquisition training for rural women and small business starter kits for 10 women. Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution will involve a peace walk and advocacy campaign for International Peace Day, along with a peace talk by the Club President.

“Maternal and Child Health initiatives will include hospital visits for medical bill support and gift donations, free health checks and treatments, as well as participation in the annual Polio Walk,” she said.

Other key projects include Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), which will involve sanitary pad distribution and hygiene education sessions, along with Rotary Family Health Day. Additionally, Environmental Sustainability efforts will focus on maintaining the club’s Polio Garden.

The club president urged stakeholders, government agencies, and well-meaning individuals to support these initiatives, reinforcing Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.”

“Together, we serve. Together, we grow. Follow our journey and join us in making a difference!” she said.
